Terms and Conditions for Enfield Lock Carpet Cleaners
These Terms and Conditions set out the basis on which Enfield Lock Carpet Cleaners provides domestic and commercial carpet cleaning services. By making a booking, confirming an appointment, or allowing our team to attend a property, the customer agrees to these terms. They are intended to provide a clear, fair, and practical framework for both parties. In these Terms, the words “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to the service provider, and “you” or “the customer” refers to the person requesting the service.
Our carpet cleaning service may include pre-inspection, stain treatment, vacuuming, shampooing, hot water extraction, dry cleaning, deodorising, and related cleaning methods agreed in advance. The exact method used may depend on fibre type, level of soiling, access, drying requirements, and the manufacturer’s care instructions. We will use reasonable care and skill in delivering the service, but outcomes can vary due to age, previous treatment, hidden wear, shading, or pre-existing damage.
These terms apply to all appointments arranged with Enfield Lock Carpet Cleaners, whether the work is booked for a single room, multiple rooms, upholstery add-ons, or related soft-furnishing cleaning services. The customer should read these Terms carefully before booking. If anything is unclear, the customer should ask for clarification before the work begins.
A booking is made when the customer accepts a quotation or confirms a service date and time. We may provide an estimated price based on the information supplied by the customer, including property size, carpet condition, access, and the type of cleaning requested. Any quotation is based on the details provided at the time and may change if the actual condition or scope of work differs materially on arrival.
We reserve the right to decline or amend a booking where the information supplied is incomplete, inaccurate, or misleading. If the property has items that were not disclosed, such as severe staining, animal contamination, excessive clutter, or access restrictions, we may revise the price or adjust the treatment method. Where the customer does not agree to any revised terms, we may cancel the appointment and charge any applicable call-out or cancellation fee.
Customers should ensure that the premises are ready for cleaning at the agreed time. This includes moving fragile items, removing small possessions, providing access to water and electricity where required, and advising us in advance of any hazards. Enfield Lock Carpet Cleaners will not be responsible for delays caused by the property not being prepared or by the customer being unavailable when we arrive.
We may send booking confirmations, reminders, or service updates by email, text message, or other suitable means. It is the customer’s responsibility to check the accuracy of the appointment details, including date, time, address, and any specified services. If the customer notices an error, they should notify us promptly so that we can attempt to correct it before the appointment.
Payment terms will be confirmed at the time of booking or before the service begins. Unless agreed otherwise, payment is due on completion of the work and must be made by the method accepted by us at the time of service. We may require a deposit for larger, repeat, or high-value bookings. Any deposit is used to secure the appointment and may be non-refundable where the customer cancels late or fails to provide access.
If payment is not received when due, we may withhold completion certificates, invoices, or additional services until the account is settled. Where any invoice remains unpaid, we reserve the right to charge interest and recover reasonable costs of collection in accordance with applicable UK law. Prices are normally quoted inclusive of VAT where VAT applies, unless stated otherwise.
Service Standards and Customer Responsibilities
We will provide carpet cleaning with reasonable care and skill, using suitable products and equipment for the agreed task. Our operatives may refuse to use a method that they believe is unsafe, unsuitable, or likely to cause damage. If the customer requests a particular product or technique, we may decline that request if it conflicts with our professional judgment or with fabric-care requirements. The customer understands that some stains may be permanent or may reappear after cleaning due to wick-back, pre-existing contamination, or chemical reactions in the pile.
Before cleaning begins, the customer should notify us of any known issues affecting the carpets or the property. This includes underfloor heating, loose tiles, previous flood damage, moth infestation, delicate dyes, or areas that have been repaired. Enfield Lock Carpet Cleaners is entitled to rely on the information provided by the customer and will not be responsible for loss arising from undisclosed defects, hidden damage, or incorrect instructions.
Where furniture moving is part of the service, only light and easily movable items will usually be shifted unless otherwise agreed. Heavy, fixed, valuable, or electrical items may be left in place. The customer is responsible for ensuring that the work area is safe, and for securing pets, children, and valuables during the visit. We may pause or stop work if conditions are unsafe or if the customer’s actions create a risk to people, property, or equipment.
Cancellations, Rescheduling, and Access
If the customer wishes to cancel or reschedule, notice should be given as early as possible. We may set a minimum notice period for cancellations, which will be explained at the time of booking. Late cancellations, same-day cancellations, or failure to provide access may result in a cancellation charge, loss of deposit, or both, where permitted by law and reasonable in the circumstances.
We may cancel or reschedule an appointment due to illness, equipment failure, adverse weather, staff shortage, safety concerns, or circumstances beyond our control. Where this happens, we will aim to offer an alternative date or time. Our liability for unavoidable delay is limited to re-performing the service at a later agreed time or refunding any amount paid for the part of the service not delivered, where appropriate.
If we arrive at the property and are unable to carry out the work because access is blocked, the customer is absent, utilities are unavailable, or conditions are unsuitable, the visit may be treated as a cancellation by the customer. In such cases, a fee may be charged to cover time, travel, and administrative costs. Repeated missed appointments may lead us to decline future bookings.
Liability and Limitations
We accept liability only for direct loss or damage caused by our proven negligence, breach of contract, or failure to use reasonable care and skill. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot legally be excluded under UK law.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, consequential, or economic losses such as loss of profit, loss of opportunity, or inconvenience caused by the service. We are also not responsible for pre-existing damage, wear and tear, colour loss, shrinkage, hidden manufacturing defects, or deterioration caused by age or prior treatment. The customer should understand that cleaning can sometimes reveal pre-existing faults that were not visible before the service.
Where a claim is made, the customer must notify us within a reasonable time and allow us an opportunity to inspect the affected area before any repair or remedial work is undertaken by a third party. We may ask for photographs, purchase records, or other information to assist with the assessment. If liability is accepted, our decision may be to re-clean, repair, replace, or provide a refund, depending on the circumstances and the extent of the issue.
Waste, Disposal, and Environmental Compliance
The waste generated during carpet cleaning, including wastewater, used cloths, filters, packaging, and discarded spot-treatment materials, will be handled in accordance with applicable waste regulations and environmental standards. We will not knowingly dispose of waste in a way that creates pollution, causes nuisance, or breaches legal duties. Where waste must be removed from the premises, it may be taken away for lawful disposal, recycling, or treatment.
The customer must not ask us to dispose of hazardous substances, needles, biological contamination, or restricted waste unless this has been agreed in advance and can lawfully be handled. If we discover waste that requires special handling, we may stop work until safe arrangements are made. Any extra cost arising from specialised disposal, protective equipment, or additional labour may be charged to the customer if permitted and agreed.
We may use water extraction, detergents, and cleaning agents that produce wastewater requiring controlled disposal. By booking the service, the customer authorises us to manage the resulting waste responsibly in line with our procedures. The customer must also ensure that drains, sinks, and disposal points are suitable for the intended use and must inform us of any restrictions, leaks, or defects that may affect disposal.
Enfield Lock Carpet Cleaners aims to act responsibly with regard to environmental protection, safety, and lawful waste management. We may refuse to use a product or process that we believe would be unlawful or environmentally inappropriate. If a customer asks us to remove waste from the premises, they remain responsible for providing accurate information about the type and quantity of waste and for any permissions needed from a landlord, managing agent, or other third party.
In relation to complaints, the customer should notify us as soon as practicable and provide a clear description of the issue. We will review the matter in good faith and, where appropriate, inspect the relevant area or request evidence. Our objective is to resolve concerns fairly and efficiently, but any remedy will be limited to the scope of the service and the remedies available under these Terms and the law.
These Terms may be updated from time to time to reflect changes in our business practices, legal obligations, or service arrangements. The version in force at the time of booking will normally apply to that appointment unless a change in law requires an immediate update. If a term is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply.
Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them, are governed by the law of England and Wales. The parties agree that the courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory consumer rights that apply under UK law.
By booking with Enfield Lock Carpet Cleaners, the customer confirms that they have read, understood, and accepted these Terms and Conditions. They are designed to support a transparent service relationship and to set reasonable expectations for both sides. The customer is encouraged to keep a copy for their records.
